Surgical procedures

A surgical procedure involving the heart can be a cause for anxiety or concern. You want to know that you're making the right decision and that you're being cared for by the best providers. The board-certified physicians at Novant Health Cardiology are among the top cardiology professionals in our region. They have years of experience performing cardiology procedures including:

  • Pacemaker placement.
  • Internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD) placement.
  • Patent foramen ovale (PFO) repair.
  • Atrial septal defect (ASD) repair.

The providers and staff at Novant Health Cardiology understand the concerns that come with these and other procedures, and work to answers your questions so that you can make informed decisions about your health. Pacemaker and ICD clinics are regularly held at the following Novant Health Cardiology locations: Elkin, Galax, KernersvilleMt. Airy and Thomasville.


Should you require hospitalization in association with your procedure, you will be cared for in the heart and vascular center at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center or at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. These facilities have renowned providers and state-of-the-art equipment to provide the care you need.
